Goals and Objectives

The Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at the Tulane University School of Medicine offers residency training programs in Adult and Child Neurology and combined residency programs in Neurology/Medicine and Neurology/Psychiatry. The residency programs are designed to guide the resident in the care of patients with diseases of the nervous system. Clinical and basic science research opportunities are also available. The program fulfills the requirement of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for certification in neurology and/or special competence in Child Neurology. The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

The training program in neurology is fundamental to developing the skills requisite to become a competent clinical neurologist. The Neurology Training Program at Tulane University provides a broad exposure to acute and chronic neurological diseases, emphasizing inpatient and outpatient experiences at the Tulane University and affiliated hospitals and through the elective rotations in subspecialty areas.

The goals and objectives for the Neurology Training Program are:
