Karen van Beyer, Ph.D.
Karen van Beyer, Ph.D. Dr. Van Beyer is in private practice, working primarily in the areas of child and family therapy and as an expert in child custody evaluation for the civil courts in Jefferson and Orleans parishes. At the Child Custody Clinic, she teaches forensic and child fellows as well as social workers and psychologists how to conduct custody evaluations.

1/1/2000. to the present.

Interests:

Dr. van Beyer developed the only program in Forensic Social Work in the United States at the Tulane University School of Social Work. She is a past president of the National Association of Forensic Social Work.

On a more personal note, Katen was born in New york City and was raised in Latin America. Her high school years were spent in Puerto Rico. Being raised bi-culturally has lead to interests in psycholinguistics, culture and mental health and in issues of marginality.
